Anger as young yobs attack ambulance in Bedworth

Bedworth cops fumed: "If these are your children, feel free to bring them to the station. Unacceptable.”

Young yobs have been slammed for hurling a liquid at an ambulance which was en-route to a 999 call in Bedworth.

The children threw an unknown liquid at the ambulance in Manse Close at 8.30pm last night.

Fortunately, no damage was caused to the vehicle and it was able to get to the emergency call.

But the situation could have been so different and Bedworth police officers and West Midlands Ambulance Service have condemned the actions of the young yobs.

In a tweet, BedworthCops said: “If these are your children, feel free to bring them to the station. Unacceptable.”

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service echoed the sentiments.

“It is extremely disappointing that our staff are subjected to abuse when they are trying to help people in their hour of need,” the WMAS spokesperson said.

“It is completely unacceptable.

“As such, the Trust has a zero tolerance policy in place and works extremely hard to bring the full weight of the law to bear on anyone who attacks our staff.”

My half brother worked for the ambulance service in Birmingham for most of his working life. After the bombing of the Talk of the Town he and fellow ambulance crews were obstructed by rubber neckers. While attending a young woman who had lost her leg, his 'Snatch bag' was stolen from the doorway of the damaged pub..
Norman (Half brother) is a big man who was paired with a similar large man, who between them attended injured people in the city centre. They were paired that way because one had to attend to the injured while the other kept an eye on the belligerent crowds.
Abuse of ambulance crews is nothing new.
Its rather odd that Norman was taught how to save lives while I joined the Marines and was taught how to kill people..

Agreed Jock, but I just don't understand it. The ambulance service do a fantastic job, why on earth attack people who save lives, especially when they're actually doing that very thing? As for taking a medical bag whilst the guy is helping someone in an injured state, that simply beggars belief.

There is something seriously wrong with this world!
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

They're not allowed to arrest anyone under 17 as it might 'criminalise' them! :clown:
