A man was rushed to hospital after suffering multiple stab wounds in an incident which brought a busy Coventry junction to a standstill.
Police were called to the scene at the junction of Roland Avenue and Wheelwright Road, Holbrooks, at 11.20am on Wednesday, September 12, following reports a naked man had been seen covered in blood.
One eyewitness told CoventryLive he had seen the man running down Roland Avenue towards Wheelwright Road and that he stopped in the middle of the busy crossroads, where there is a set of traffic lights, and appeared to hit or stab himself.
He said police officers then attempted to restrain the man.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Officers were called to reports of a naked man covered in blood on seen on Roland Avenue and Wheelwright Road at around 11.20am this morning.
“Officers and ambulance colleagues assisted the man, who appears to have self-harmed.
“The extent of his injuries are not known at present and he’s been taken to hospital.
“We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”
