Dreams really 'Cancan' come true - just ask a Nuneaton dancer who has joined the most famous cabaret in the world.

Having started dancing when she was just two-years-old, at the age of 21 Ellie Wickett is now dancing at French cabaret institution - the Moulin Rouge.

The Nuneaton born and trained dancer passed the auditions in London last February, the former Chater Dance Academy pupil has joined the famous venue and its cast of 60 artists who come from 14 different countries.

“The Moulin Rouge represents a dream come true, the art of performing and the beauty of women," said the Leicester College of Performing Arts graduate.

"Saying I dance at the Moulin Rouge is pretty incredible for me, almost as incredible as saying I'm performing the famous French Cancan every night.

"It is amazing, every time the audience goes crazy and it gives such a good feeling on stage! ”

After spending six days a week for four weeks in intensive rehearsal sessions, the dancer mastered the choreographies and the French Cancan and she is now performing 12 times a week in the current show "Féerie”.

Created in 1889, the Moulin Rouge celebrates its 129th anniversary this year and "Féerie" is a two-hour-long show with 1,000 costumes of feathers, rhinestones and sequins, a 60 tonne-water aquarium and the famous French Cancan.
