A paedophile who abused three teenage girls is now behind bars for more than eight years.

Douglas Roy Miller's crimes dated back to the 1990s and saw him groom his victims, giving them gifts, before he abused them.

The 57-year-old previously pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault, one count of indecency with a child, one count of sexual activity with a child, and one count of possessing an indecent photograph of a child.

He was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court today to eight years and four months in prison, and was told he would be placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.

Miller, of Alexandra Place, Rugby, was also made subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

Miller sexually abused three girls in the 1990s and 2000s when they were in their early teens.

Miller groomed them by buying them cigarettes, alcohol and mobile phone top-up cards, before abusing them.

When police raided his house they found 100 indecent images.

Police believe these images were all of the same girl.

Speaking following the sentencing, Police Staff Investigator Gemma Reamsbottom, from Warwickshire Police, said: "Miller's behaviour was typical of that we see from people who groom children. He abused his position to identify vulnerable young girls.

"He then flattered them with gifts and attention before sexually abusing them.

"Miller's appalling offending has had a profound impact on his victims; this is something they have had to carry with them for many years.

"I'd like to pay tribute to the victims; they have shown immense bravery in coming forward to report the offences.

"I hope that knowing Miller is behind bars will bring them some form of closure and help them more forward with their lives.

"I also hope that the outcome of the case will give other victims of sexual offences the confidence to report them, no matter when they were committed."

So what was this 'position' that he abused? Where's the rest of the story?
