Police reveal more details after teenager shot in Henley Green

A teenager shot in Coventry last night suffered serious injuries, but police say they are not life-threatening.

The 19-year-old was found with a gunshot wound to his leg after police were called to Hermes Crescent, in Henley Green, just after 11pm.

The injured teenager was found nearby in Hornsey Close.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "The man's injuries are serious, but not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing."Officers are conducting house-to-house enquiries and exploring CCTV from the surrounding area in efforts to understand the circumstances of the incident.

"Meanwhile, police patrols in the area have been increased."

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said they sent an ambulance, a paramedic support officer and the critical care car from the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance to the scene.

They added: "We were called to reports of a patient with a gunshot injury.

"We treated a male in his late teens for a leg injury.

"He was fully conscious and was taken to hospital."
