The victim had to be taken to hospital after suffering head injuriesA baseball bat-wielding thug attacked a man on a busy road heading into Nuneaton town centre.
He struck on Queens Road, near to the Crew pub, at just before 10.40pm on Monday, August 13.
The thug attacked the man, who has not been identified but is aged in his 40s, and hit him round the head with the weapon.
The suspect then fled the scene, heading towards the Cock and Bear bridge, leaving his victim lying on the floor.
He had suffered a wound to his head.
Police alerted West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) and an ambulance was sent to the scene.
“One ambulance attended and we treated a man in his 40s who was then conveyed to hospital,” the spokesperson said.
Investigations are ongoing and police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the attack or has any information.
