Police have cordoned off access to a shop in Nuneaton amid reports of an attack on the store manager.

Tape has been placed around the entrance to the Co-op store in Galley Common this morning (Monday, August 13).

Four police vehicles are on the car park and officers have been spotted talking to people in the area.

An ambulance was on the scene and a spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) said they were called by police at 6.55am.

The WMAS spokesperson said a man, who has not been identified, suffered minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the Co-op manager was attacked as he was opening up this morning.

Coventry Live contacted Warwickshire Police Force but no one was not available for comment at the time of publication.

The alleged attack comes just months after the store was targeted by a gang, who stole the ATM machine, containing thousands of pounds.

It has only been in recent months that the ATM has been reinstalled at the store in Chesterton Drive.
