A business owner returned home from holiday to find his van and car had been stolen from his driveway.

And the theft will not only affect Aaron Daniel's sports company, but also children across the city enjoying the summer holidays.

Aaron says he will no longer be able to deliver a climbing wall to the War Memorial Park this weekend as he uses the van to deliver equipment and activities.

The vehicles - a VW Transporter van and an Audi Q3 - were stolen from outside Aaron's home in Parkgate Road, Holbrooks, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Aaron, 32, said: "We had been on holiday in Thailand and returned home on Tuesday lunchtime to no van or car on the drive.

"Between 2.30am and 3am they had stolen my burglar alarm off the house first, then the security light and gone in to the house.

"They turned my house upside-down trying to find the keys and they found them and the spare set after a lot of looking, and they took the vehicles."

The van is used for Aaron's company, Elite Sports Development, which has ran for the last nine years.

The black VW Transporter has a bright green strip on the front grill and says 'Sportline 60' down the side.

Aaron says he has had to cancel an event at the War Memorial Park this weekend where he was due to use the van to take a climbing wall to the park.

"It's affecting the business already," said Aaron. "We've got an agreement with the council to take the wall and other stuff to put on activities for children.

"Then next week we are due to help with Coventry Sports Week in the city centre and that looks in jeopardy."

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Police are investigating the theft of a car and van following a burglary in Holbrooks between 11pm on August 6 and 6am on August 7.

"Thieves smashed a patio door to gain entry to the house on Parkgate Road where an Audi A3 and a VW Transporter were taken along with cash and jewellery.

"Anyone with information is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101 giving crime reference number 20CW/180725U/18."
