A Coventry bookies has been targeted by robbers twice in less than a year.

Police attended Ladbrokes on Robin Hood Road in Willenhall again on Monday to reports of an attempted robbery.

It comes nearly a year after another incident at the same place.

On Monday, a man forced entry into the bookies before threatening staff and demanding money.

However, staff refused and he ran off.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Police were called to reports of an attempted robbery in a betting shop on Robin Hood Road, Coventry, at around 12.30pm today.

"A man forced entry into a store before threatening staff and demanding money."

A 28-year-old man from Birmingham was later arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.

He remains in police custody.

In an unconnected raid last year, a member of staff had to be stretchered away after he was ‘pistol whipped’ during a terrifying armed raid at the bookmakers.
