A 29-year-old support worker from Coventry has made the finals of PETA’s Hottest Vegans competition.

The annual competition celebrates the nation’s hottest vegans - both male and female from all over the UK and Ireland.

Cath Kendall, who lives in Stoke, has made the final six 'hottest vegan' females.

There is also a shortlist of six male candidates for the title.

PETA - The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Foundation - is a UK-based charity dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals.

The 12 finalists chosen by PETA have been put to a public vote and two winners will be announced – one man and one woman. Voting ends on Monday, August 6.

PETA chose the 12 finalists based on consideration of the following factors: the enthusiasm they demonstrate in promoting a vegan lifestyle, PETA’s assessment of their attractiveness, and PETA’s assessment of how interesting their story is.

In an interview with our colleagues at BirminghamLive, Cath, who works as a cruelty free blogger in her spare time, said: "I was surprised such a competition even existed! Being named a Hot Vegan is a weird title but this is a great platform to shine a light on vegan issues and animal welfare.

"I was approached to enter six weeks ago via email by organisers.

"I sent in three photos of myself as requested and answered some questions about myself. Then yesterday I got another email saying I had made the final six!”

Cath has been a vegan for six years and became a vegetarian at the age of nine.

"I always loved animals and when I saw my mum carving up a whole chicken for Sunday roast as a child - the idea I was eating something that was once living and breathing just put me off for life," she said.

"But I still ate cheese and chocolate. Then when I was 24 I watched a video explaining the reality of the dairy industry and I found it very disturbing. I have been a very happy vegan ever since."

Cath's conversion to veganism led her to launch a vegan bakery service.

A blogger and activist from Coventry has been named the UK's hottest vegan.

An impressive combination of charm, animal activism, and compassion secured Cath Kendall, 29, the top honours in PETA's UK and Ireland's Hottest Vegan Competition 2018.

Cath spends her free time getting involved in animal rights activism, blogging about cruelty-free living, and cuddling her adorable dog, Walter.

She became vegan the day she found out what cows go through in order for us to drink their milk.

PETA selected two winners – one female and one male – based on several factors, including the results of a public vote.

"Cath Kendall is living proof that a clear conscience and a compassionate heart are the hidden ingredients of hotness," says PETA Director Elisa Allen.

"PETA encourages everyone inspired by her integrity and vitality to follow her lead and give going vegan a try."

In an interview with our colleagues at BirminghamLive, Cath previously said: "I was surprised such a competition even existed!
