Sex attack on woman in Nuneaton park

Detectives say they are treating the sex assault as 'isolated' but want help to trace the attacker



An investigation is underway after a woman was sexually assaulted by a man in Nuneaton.

The victim, who is in her 30s, was attacked as she was walking from Marston Lane towards Lutterworth Road on a grassland area known locally as Paul's Land.

Investigating officers have stressed they are treating the incident as "isolated" and have turned to the public for help to identify the attacker as the assault.

The attack happened at 10.30am and they hope that anyone who was in the area at the time will come forward.

Detective Constable Nicholas Allen said: "We understand that this will cause concern in the local community; however, I would like to reassure people that we are treating this as an isolated incident and are carrying out a thorough enquiry to identify the man responsible.

"Paul's Land is popular with dog walkers and given the time of day this occurred we're hoping someone will have seen the incident or seen someone acting suspiciously. If so we'd like to hear from you.

"We'd also like to hear from anyone who knows someone who matches the description of the offender."

The suspect has been described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, 5ft 8ins, of medium build, clean shaven, with dark hair that was closely cropped.

He was wearing a white top, three-quarter-length blue denim jeans, and croc style shoes.

Anyone with any information about the attack, which happened at 10am on Tuesday, June 26, should call police on 101 quoting incident 366 of June 26.
