The Ricoh Arena is set to get a new name.

A 13-year association with Japanese electronics company Ricoh is at an end and stadium owners London Wasps Holdings have stepped up their mission to find a new sponsor of the 32,000-seater stadium.

The venue is home to Aviva Premiership rugby union outfit Wasps, League One football club Coventry City and Vitality Superleague champions, Wasps Netball.

It has also hosted major concerts including the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi and Take That, and Olympic Games football in 2012 when it was briefly renamed the City of Coventry Stadium.

London marketing agency Mongoose Sport & Entertainment are spearheading the hunt for a new main sponsor, as well as finding new sponsorship partners for Wasps Rugby and Wasps Netball.

Uncertainty has surrounded the future naming rights of the stadium ever since CoventryLive reported in March 2016 that a short-term extension with existing sponsor Ricoh had been agreed.

Then-Wasps chief executive David Armstrong said at the time: "It’s a short-term extension, not a long-term extension.

“It’s not rolling, it’s for a fixed period, but I can’t say exactly for how long.”

The stadium was originally going to be called either The Isle Arena, named after the Isle of Capri Casino originally based at the site, but Coventry City Council wanted their most significant building in 50 years to be named after a more conservative organisation.

That's when Jaguar Cars signed a deal to call it the Jaguar Arena, complete with 60ft silver Jaguar on the roof, but the deal fell through.
