Traffic Police chased suspected thieves for five miles before the car was left in Bell GreenThree men have been arrested after a high-speed chase from the M6 into Longford yesterday evening.
West Midlands Traffic Police started pursuing a black Ford Kuga by Corley Services after their Automatic Number Plate Recognition flagged cloned plates.
The driver left the M6 at Junction 3 taking the Longford Road into the city.
Police said the chase became too dangerous to pursue on the road, but its helicopter was drafted in to track the car.
The suspected driver and passengers abandoned the car by Pearson Avenue and the Old Church Road in Bell Green, nearly five miles from the start of its chase.
Police later arrested three men after a short chase at 6pm, detaining a 30-year old, 33-year old and a 27-year old for theft of a motor vehicle.
The back of the car was also full of stolen power tools, including drills and angle-grinders.
Those with details on the theft, or looking to trace stolen tools, should contact the Coventry Investigation Team via 101, and quote log 391 of June 14.
