A biker has died after a crash in Alderman's Green last night.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Hall Green Road and Almond Tree Avenue in Coventry at 6.30pm, after a motorbike collided with a silver Ford Mondeo.

Despite the best efforts of a passing nurse, the biker - a man in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a 28-year-old man from Radford, was arrested by officers on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He remains in police custody for questioning this morning.

West Midlands Police Collision Investigation Unit are looking into the crash and have urged witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Alan Wood said: “We understand that the collision took place at the junction between the two roads…the biker suffered very serious injuries and there was nothing that could be done to save him.

“I would ask anyone who saw the collision or saw the bike or silver Mondeo in the moments leading up to the impact to please get in touch as they could hold vital information.”

Witnesses are urged to call the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting incident log 2240 of June 13, or email: FL_Collision_Invest@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk.
