A Nuneaton woman says she was left devastated after memories of her late husband, including wedding jewellery and a bag of his ashes, were burgled from her home.

Police are investigating after thieves broke in the through the back door window of her house on Croft Road, Stockingford , while she was on holiday.

Isabell Aston, whose husband Ivor died of an undiagnosed illness two and half years ago, said wedding rings, photo albums and other items of sentimental value were taken in the raid.

She has now been left with just a second small bag of ashes she to remember him by.

She is desperate to track down the rings in particular.

Heartbroken Isabell told CoventryLive: "They took three of my rings - my wedding ring, my engagement ring and an eternity ring.

"They had thrown my wedding shoes across the room and taken my jewellery including gold earrings, gold bangles, a gold chain, a Sekonda watch he bought me and some other bits.

"They took an iPhone and an iPad too but I don't really care about those."

Among the other items she claims were taken were her late husband's possessions and memories of their time together.

She said: "They took an empty coin purse that was his, two photo albums, a little bag of his ashes, his hospital ID bracelet, a leather bracelet he used to wear, which I'd tied a knot in because it was too big, and an empty wallet with his ID in.

"They even took a card that had two pound coins taped inside it - he gave that to me just before he died when we didn't have much money.

"All I've got left of him now is a little bag of his ashes which I've kept in my bag."

Isabell hopes she can be reunited with her wedding rings, but said she may never see the photos and personal memories that have been taken again.

She added: "When someone dies things like that are all you've got. I'm just trying to come to terms with the fact that I may never see them again."

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said: "Police are investigating a house burglary on Croft Road, Nuneaton, which occurred between 9.10pm on Sunday, May 27, and 7.50am on Monday, May 28.

"Anyone with information should call Warwickshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 79 of May 28."
