This was the scene this morning after a car smashed in to a fence in Coventry.

The badly damaged vehicle can be seen propped on its side in Torrington Avenue, Tile Hill, next to the junction with Station Avenue, surrounded by police tape.

The crash happened in the early hours of this morning and saw the driver of the blue Peugeot taken to hospital by paramedics.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 12.23am and sent one ambulance to the scene.

"A man in his 20s was out of the vehicle when the crew arrived and he was treated for leg pain, cuts and bumps and also a minor head injury.

"He was then taken to University Hospital in Coventry."
