A huge electrical storm has swept the Midlands, Coventry and Warwickshire , with huge rumbles of thunder and flashes of lightning.

The storm started late last night, and raged through until the early hours of the morning - before being followed by a heavy, muggy, day, with temperatures reaching 27C.

But now, the storm has reared its ugly head again, with storm showers and thunder returning, and they look set to continue until Wednesday.

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for the area, warning that the thunderstorms in the area could cause "a danger to life".

This warning remains in place until 6am on Monday.

Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing a danger to life, forecasters add.

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures and some communities might become cut off if roads flood.

Warwickshire Police Operations and Communications Centre has tweeted: "Tarmac on the road on Murray Road, Rugby, is lifting due to the heavy rain - be cautious avoid if you can - council have been made aware."
