Bus diversions in place ahead of Biggest Weekend

It comes as a result of expected congestion and road closures

According to National Express Coventry, three bus routes in the city will be impacted by the festival of sound.

They are as follows:

Service 9A, in both directions, will not serve Baginton Road or Mantilla Drive.

Alternative bus stops are Leamington Road.

Services 11 and 11U, in both directions, will from Coventry Rail Station, divert via Butts Road and Albany Road.

Warwick Road, Spencer Road, Dalton Road, Belvedere Road and Earlsdon Avenue South will not be served.

Alternative bus stops are Coventry Railway Station and Earlsdon Avenue North.

Service 12X, in both directions will from Coventry Rail Station, divert via Butts Road Spon End, Hearsall Lane, Hearsall Common, Tile Hill Lane, Herald Avenue, Fletchamstead Highway, Sir Henry Parkes Road, Kirby Corner Road, and Gibbet Hill Road.

Warwick Road, Kenilworth Road and Gibbet Hill Road will not be served.

Alternative stopping places are Coventry Railway Station and University Bus Hub.

Coventry City Council has revealed the following information about road closures between Sunday May 27 and Monday May 28:

  • Leamington Road will be closed from Kenilworth Road to Humphrey Burton’s Road, as and when required during this period in order to facilitate the control of traffic
  • Coat of Arms Bridge Road will be restricted use, with pickup/dropoff only. Parking restrictions will also be in place in the surrounding area for non-residents
  • The A429 Kenilworth Road will also be closed from its junction with the A45 Fletchamstead Hwy/Kenpas Hwy to its junction with Westminster Rd at the end of each event day in order to facilitate effective egress of traffic
  • Traffic is expected to be heavy in the surrounding area on these days, particularly at the end of each event day (from 9pm approx.)
  • Road users not attending the event are advised to use an alternative route or allow extra time for their journey
