Daniel Tweedie was one of four people arrested following a "firearms deployment"A Coventry man accused of a firearms offence has appeared in court.
Daniel Tweedie was charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence after police stopped a Mercedes car near to Stonebridge Island on the A45 on Wednesday, April 11.
Tweedie, 29, of Eversleigh Road, Coundon, was one of four people arrested following what has been described by police as "a firearms deployment".
He was bailed and appeared at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre in Newcastle-under-Lyme yesterday.
No pleas were entered and the case was committed to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court where Tweedie will appear on June 15.
Officers also arrested a 40-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman from Coventry, as well as a 51-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme on April 11.
They were all released under investigation pending further enquiries.
Officers from Staffordshire Police, West Midlands Police and the Central Motorway Police Group were all involved in the incident that led to the arrests.
