Gas works taking place on the road sparked safety concernsA suspected arson is being investigated after police were called to two cars on fire on a residential road.
Firefighters were needed to tackle the two blazing vehicles on Meadfoot Road in Willenhall on Friday night.
Gas engineers were also called to the scene for safety reasons as gas works are currently taking place on the road.
Photos show one of the cars burnt out.
Paramedics were also called to the scene but were stood down shortly after.
Reports on social media suggested that residents were asked to leave their homes for a short while as emergency services dealt with the incident.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said: "We were called to Meadfoot Road at 10.40pm and sent one fire engine from Coventry to the scene.
"The incident involved two cars on fire on the road. Two firefighters extinguished the fire using a hose reel.
"The gas board were also in attendance to clear the scene of any gas leak."
This is the latest in a string of incidents that have left residents of Wiillenhall concerned about levels of crime in the area.
