Police are hunting for a gun man who shot his victim in a quiet Coventry street.

It was first thought the shooting took place in Blackshaw Drive, Walsgrave, at around 5.30pm on Wednesday and saw 28-year-old man taken to hospital with a hand injury.

However, police have now confirmed it took place in Cross Road, Foleshill, which was the street paramedics were called to.

An investigation has been launched and police say the offender fled the scene in a grey BMW.

As part of their enquiries, officers have searched a site in Cross Road, which was the street that paramedics were called to a short while after to treat the injured man.

Reacting to the news, Ed Ruane, a councillor for the Henley ward that covers Blackshaw Drive, said: “It’s a nice quiet neighbourhood and it’s a shock that it had happened.

“Clearly I’m eager to find out more around the circumstances.”
