Plans for a new student accommodation complex in Coventry have been given the green light.

Some 41 studio apartments are to be built as part of a three-storey student block on the land behind The Humber Pub, on Humber Road.

The plans were submitted to Coventry City Council late last year, and were approved on Friday.

It has confirmed that The Humber pub will remain open.

The proposal, submitted by Punch Partnerships (PML) Limited will see the flats built upon the pub's current car park and beer garden.

This is what the new accommodation will consist of:

  • Seven en-suite studio units on the ground floor
  • 17 en-suite studio units on the first floor
  • 17 en-suite studio units on the second floor
  • A common room and study room, alongside a reception, office, refuse store, accessible WC, cycle storage and laundry room.
With the exception of five spaces for visitors, no parking will be provided for residents of the new build, located in the Lower Stoke area of the city.

A reorganised car parking area for 20 vehicles, and a outdoor patio area for the pub also form part of the plans.

More student flats added to pub site plan

More flats are being added to a student accommodation plan on the site of a Coventry pub.

Planning officers have approved a proposal to increase the total number of studio flats for student occupation behind The Humber in Stoke.

Initially there was set to be 41 flats for students.

But a revised plan submitted to Coventry City Council has increased the number of total flats to 48.

The amended application was approved on Thursday after the original was given the green light last April.

It has been confirmed the pub itself will remain open.
