The Coventry Fish Bar in The Burges appears to have been closed since the incident on Tuesday last week (March 27).

West Midlands Fire Service sent two crews after being called out at 6:15pm.

An ambulance was also called to the scene a few minutes later.

A man in his 20s was treated for burns to his arm and given pain relief. He was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

The fire was contained to the ground floor of the three-storey building and a CO2 extinguisher was used to put it out.

Ten Coventry firefighters dealt with the smoke.

The Burges was not closed and businesses in the surrounding area were not affected.

The Observer has been unable to contact the chip shop since the incident.
