The victim was rushed to hospital on 'blue lights'



A young man was taken to hospital after being stabbed in Bedworth.

The victim, who has not been identified but is in his 20s, was taken on ‘blue lights’ to hospital following the nasty incident in Woodlands Road last night (Tuesday, April 3).

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) said they responded to 999 calls at 7.50pm last night and sent an ambulance and a paramedic officer to the scene.

It is understood that an investigation is underway as police tape was spotted thrown around the area, close to the shops, last night.

Householders across the town took to social media, posting about a helicopter circling the skies around the Sutherland Drive area at around 10pm last night.

Warwickshire Police has been contacted for a statement.

Stabbing of young man could be linked to incident at Bedworth shop

Detectives believe the stabbing of a young man may be linked to an 'incident' at a shop in Bedworth.

Investigating officers are looking into the links between a man in his 20s suffering a stab wound and an undisclosed incident at the Premier Stores in Woodlands Road.

Officers responded to a call from West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) at 7.50pm to reports that the young man had been found in Newtown Road with a stab wound to his leg and facial injuries.

Paramedics took the victim to the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire on 'blue lights' for treatment to his injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening or life-changing.

Now police have revealed just five minutes before the 999 call to the ambulance service was made, there was an 'incident' at the nearby Premier Stores in Woodlands Road.

A black Audi with a partial registration of DG54 and three men were seen in the area and are understood to have been involved.

Detective Inspector Teresa McKenna said: “We're carrying out a thorough investigation to establish what happened and how this man ended up with his injuries.

“We would like to reassure the community that this was an isolated incident but are encouraging anyone who was in either area at the time and witnessed anything suspicious to come forward.

“We also understand a number of individuals were in a vehicle that was parked outside the premises on Woodlands Road, and we would be keen for them get in touch."
