Posted: Mon Jun 21, 2010 3:06 amA government can only freeze Poll Tax by increasing the payments it makes to local councils which currently account for 80-85% of the total revenue. Even if there was no increase in expenditure by any council the annual bill would still rise by 4.5-5% due to inflation. Since this government is committed to a reduction in public spending this proposal is a complete nonsense!
