A popular Nuneaton chippy famed for its crinkle cut chips is on the market.

Questions had been asked about the future of Wales Fish and Chip shop in Bond Street following posts on social media.

The Telegraph can now confirm that the chippy is up for sale for an asking price of £275,000 or at leasehold for £59,950.

The long-standing chippy is popular with generations of folk, most notably for its crinkle cut chips.

On the Everett Masson and Furby website, it says: “Trading only a 33-hour week. An edge of town centre location. Three-pan Kirimco range; large dining, preparation and storage areas. Scope other cuisines and full restaurant use.

It is not clear how long the chippy has been on the market or if any offers have been made.

I've a nasty feeling it will no longer be run as a chippy, we've lost three that way around here already.

Popular Nuneaton chippy to go under the hammer

Image

A popular Nuneaton chippy famed for its crinkle cut chips is to go under the hammer.

Wale's Fish and Chip Shop in Bond Street is one of the lots being sold by Loveitts at its next auction in Coventry with a price tag of between £200,000 and £220,000.

It was only last month that CoventryLive revealed that the chippy was up for sale and it will be up-for-grabs on Thursday, May 17.

Sally Smith, Loveitts director and auctioneer, said: "We all know that Brits love their fish and chips - it's a love that continues to grow. Wale's Fish and Chip Shop was incredibly popular with generations of people in the town and it can be again.

"This is a unique opportunity for a buyer to purchase a business which already has a good reputation in the town and possibly even develop it further. We are expecting a great deal of interest in this business as there is much scope to make it a huge success."

It will go under the hammer on May 17 at Loveitts' auction at the Village Urban Resort Hotel in Dolomite Avenue, starting at 6.30pm.

Nuneaton chippy up for sale - this is how much it will cost

Image

A Nuneaton chippy is back on the market and could be the perfect 'plaice' for investors.

Wales Fish and Chip shop in Bond Street is up for sale again after a buyer has failed to be found.

The long-standing chippy was popular with generations of folk, most notably for its crinkle cut chips.

It has been off and on the market for the past two years.

There have been several attempts to sell it, including an auction.

But it failed to net an owner.

Now a post on Facebook says offers being accepted in the region of £235,000.

It states: "For sale freehold. Takeaway and restaurant. A3 and A5 licences. Available immediately. Offers in region of £235k."

Nuneaton chippy Wales nets new owner

A once popular chippy on the outskirts of Nuneaton town centre finally has a new owner.

Wales Fish and Chip shop in Bond Street, which was first opened in the 1960s, was popular with generations of folk, most notably for its crinkle cut chips.

Now the building has been sold - with a view of it being for a restaurant or takeaway.

The news has been announced by Veritas Business Sales, which was behind the sale, on its page on Facebook.

The post explains that a previous sale fell through.

CoventryLive reported the appearance of a sold sign back in November but, according to the post, it failed to materialise.

But now a new owner has been found.

It reads: "We unfortunately lost the buyer on December 22 2020 just two days before completion.

"However, Veritas has secured another purchaser and completed the sale within just eight weeks which includes the loss of two weeks for the Christmas holiday period."

There have been several attempts to sell the site, dating back to 2018, including an auction.

But it failed to net an owner - until now.

A new takeaway is to open in former famed Nuneaton fish and chip shop tonight. Wales Fish and Chip shop in Bond Street, which was first opened in the 1960s, was popular with generations of folk, most notably for its crinkle-cut chips.

But it closed its doors and stood an empty shell of its former self until it netted a new owner last year. Now Wales is about to embark on a new future - as an Indian takeaway.

It will be known as 'Joy Indian Takeaway'. It is officially due to start serving customers this weekend.

Ye it has been posted on social media that its grand opening is tonight (April 13). Work has been ongoing to get the former chip shop ready to become an Indian takeaway.

Earlier it the week, signs were spotted on the windows appealing for drivers. Once open, the new venture will aim to breathe life back into the prominent Bond Street venue, which has served food for decades.

Takeaway in famed former Nuneaton town centre chippy is up for sale for £265,000

An Indian takeaway in the home of a famed former Nuneaton town centre chippy is up for sale. Joy Takeway is officially on the market for £265,000.

It opened in April in the building that used to play home to Wales Fish and Chip shop in Bond Street. Now, according to Rightbiz, the freehold takeaway is up for sale in what has been described as a 'transformed' building with the takeaway on the first floor and three bedroomed flat on the second floor.

The property website explains that 'reluctantly' it has been put on the market due to ill health.

"The premises were built in circa 1960 and has traded as a fish and chip shop restaurant and takeaway for most of that time," a description on the website explains. "Our client purchased the property back in February 2021 and has transformed it into what you see today. The first floor restaurant has been converted into a self contained three bedroomed flat.

"Reluctantly this is now being offered for sale due to health reasons. Since ownership they have refurbished, redecorated and installed brand-new equipment along with fixtures and fittings which are all bought and paid for and included within the sale price which is a huge plus for any new purchaser as additional funds will not need to be spent for some time."

It goes on to say that the new owner could expand the current business or change the food it offers.

"The business has built a strong reputation within the local community and beyond and as such has a high level of regular and repeat trade," the description adds.

"This is a superb opportunity to purchase a newly fitted takeaway with further potential which is a great base to build upon and as such early viewing is highly recommended."

Details about the property can be found on the website here.

Takeaway has been trading for 2 months now and already produces a weekly turnover of circa £3,000. Approximately £500 per week is walk in trade and deliveries via their own website and the remaining £2,500 comes from the on-line portals Just Eat and Uber eats.

We believe that a new owner could expand the current business or change the cuisine should they wish.

Good luck! Strikes me someone has dropped a massive b*ll*ck and now wants to offload things.
