Luckily no-one was injured

Police are investigating reports of a shotgun being fired in Keresley End and damaging the window of a house.

At 5.25pm yesterday, police were called to Howat Road to a report that a firearm had been discharged at approximately 4.10pm.

It had damaged a window.

Detective Inspector Tim Sharp of Warwickshire Police said: “I can confirm we are investigating a shotgun discharge in Howat Road, Keresley End, Coventry. We have had no reports of injuries and no reports of damage to surrounding properties.

“Thankfully no-one was hurt, but this incident could have ended with devastating consequences. If someone has been brazen enough to fire a shotgun in the afternoon on a residential street, we need to find them urgently.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who saw a blue Audi S1 in the area at the time to come forward. We know neighbours and the wider community will understandably be extremely concerned and there will be additional police patrols in the area, please speak to these officers if you have any concerns.

“Anyone with any information which could help the investigation is urged to come forward, we need to find this individual and the firearm, so please do the right thing and come forward either to police directly on 101 quoting incident 344 of 17 March, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

A couple of observations...

*It took a long while for the victim to contact the police

*It was still light when it happened. - No witnesses?

I think someone knows a lot more than they're saying.

It was said slightly 'in-cheek' Melisandre.

True I haven't lived there, but I do know a guy who was the 'village' bobby in the 70s/80s and more recently I know a lady who had a cafe in the village. I am aware of 'what is what' in Keresley. ;)

Is that road on the estate that was built to house the workers at Coventry Colliery?? If so than many residents may have wanted to keep quiet and mind their own business.

Howat Rd had council houses not pit houses Jock my sister and I both married two brothers from Howat Rd born in the late 40s and early 50s their dad did nt work in the pit nor the colliery they were a big family . Another sister of mine who still lives there her husband was born on the village also hence like you say they know to mind their own business.
