The dedicated week is focusing on tackling burglary, robbery and vehicle crime and sending a message to deter future offences.

A week of action was called after seeing a worrying rise in offences of particular crimes, along with the aim of offering reassurance to communities across Coventry that crime will not be tolerated.

Beat bobbies, plain-clothes officers, dog units and traffic officers are working together to enforce the anti-crime action week.

Extra ‘lockdown’ precautions are being taken in an attempt to prevent offenders escaping capture.

Detective chief inspector of Coventry Police, Tony Bennett, said: “We don’t underestimate the impact such crimes can have on our communities which is why we have launched this dedicated week of action.

“We will have a significant amount of resources committed to targeting and catching suspected robbers, burglars and vehicle thieves and making our neighbourhoods safer.

“This highly visible presence will help to reassure our communities we are committed to tackling such crimes.”

Throughout the week of action, officers will be visiting homes, businesses and university campuses to offer crime prevention tips.

Tips to householders include keeping doors and windows secure, leaving lights on at home and making sure sheds are secure with padlocks.

Yeah, all the wrong 'uns will go to ground for a week.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Don't think they will bother to much Rebbonk. With the state of our present undermanned police force don't think that he could chase two people at once.
