Angry consumers have hit out at Cadbury after the now American-owned company replaced the Fudge bar with an Oreo in the Christmas selection box

The British chocolate bar was replaced by the American biscuit in the classic £2.99 box but is still avaliable in the small (£1.09) and Freddo (£2.99) selection packs.

Some chocolate lovers said "Christmas is ruined" after realising their favourite festive treat had been replaced by an Oreo.

One person tweeted: "WHY HAVE YOU REPLACED MY FUDGE BAR IN THE SELECTION PACKS WITH THE HORRIBLE OREO BAR. ITS NOT THE SAME ANY MORE."

Nigel Quinlan accused the firm of waging a "war on Christmas" on the microblogging site, while Sinead Gleeson called for "a revolution against this chocolate tyranny".

The biscuit-based treat joins Dairy Milk, Crunchie, Dairy Milk Buttons, Double Decker and Wispa in the company's "best-selling selection box in the UK".

The now Kraft-owned company has caused controversy in recent years by meddling with favourite chocolate bars.

They changed the Creme Egg recipe, causing some to boycott the product, and have added Oreo to some Dairy Milk bars.

Consumers were also outraged when the company rounded the edges of its Dairy Milk bars, with some saying it was to cut costs.

In another festive replacement scandal. Kraft removed Bourneville from the Heroes box in 2013 and replaced it with Toblerone.

At the time Angus Kennedy, editor of Kennedy’s Confection magazine, told the Daily Mail: "To replace Bourneville with Toblerone is unpatriotic. It’s like replacing the fish in fish and chips with mussels."

Since Kraft bought the company and started meddling with recipes I've not bought anything with the Cadbury's name on it. Mind you, I rarely eat chocolate.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

It's even worse in America, they replaced Cadbury's Dairy Milk with Hershey Bar. British ex-pats who want the original now have to import it privately at huge expense.
