No police investigations will be held into the death of a man found in the toilets at a Nuneaton superstore.

Officers have said that they are not treating the death at the Asda store as suspicious and that they will simply prepare a report for the coroner.

But a post mortem examination will be held to determine the cause of the death of the man, who has not yet been identified.

Police and paramedics were called at 5.40am today to reports of an unconscious man.

A cordon was immediately thrown around the Newtown Road-based store to allow the emergency services to carry out their work.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) sent two ambulances and a community paramedic attended the scene.

A WMAS said: “On arrival, crews discovered the patient, a man, in cardiac arrest in the toilets.

“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

A Warwickshire Police Force spokesman added: “The death is being treated as not-suspicious and a post mortem will take place in due course.”

The store itself has now been re-opened after being closed for an hour and a half earlier this morning.
