Cash machine blown from wall with explosives during Arley raid – police hunt gang
OFFICERS are appealing for information after a cash machine was blown from the shop wall with EXPLOSIVES during a brazen raid in Arley.
Warwickshire Police is appealing for witnesses after the gang detonated the charges and stole a quantity of cash from the ATM at the Co-op in Gun Hill, New Arley during the early hours of the morning (September 8).
The incident, which shook nearby homes, happened at around 1.31am and cops believe residents hold vital information.
Detective Constable Matthew Bird added: "We believe there were three offenders and that they left the scene in a black Audi A3.
"There was a small explosion that people in the local area may have heard and they may have seen something suspicious."
An eye-witness, who lived nearby, described the blast as similar to a bomb.
They said: "The New Arley Co-op cashpoint machine has just been ripped out of the wall following a loud explosion in the village. It sounded like a bomb of some sort.
"They've made a right mess of it."
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could help police with their enquiries should call 101 and quote incident 26 of September 8.
