Nuneaton came to a halt this morning after a serious collision on the Griff roundabout.

One man was cut free from his car following the crash which closed off the road during rush hour this morning.

A driver was trapped in his car and had to be cut free by firefighters.

Fire crews had to release the man, who has not been identified but is aged in his 20s, after the incident at 7.11am.

Medics from West Midlands Ambulance Service then immobilised him and took him, via ambulance, to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.

A woman, who was in the other car, was also treated at the scene and taken to George Eliot Hospital.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to a two car collision which has led to the closure of a junction to a main Nuneaton island , causing traffic chaos for commuters.
