Armed police were called after reports shots were fired during a row with a Coventry shopkeeper.

West Midlands Police said an air rifle and pellets were recovered following the incident in Heathcote Street, Radford, last night.

Officers believe the weapon was used by a customer who was angry at being told the shop was closing.

Two men aged 44 and 34 arrested at an address nearby in connection with what happened remain in custody this morning.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “Two men have been arrested after officers received a report that shots were fired in a shop in Radford, Coventry last night.

“Officers, including specially trained police from the force’s firearms unit, responded and located two men at an address close to the shop on Heathcote Street at around 11pm.
