Paramedics have hit out at vandals who egged an ambulance in Coventry - putting it out of action.

The ambulance was sat outside a patient’s house last night when the vandals struck, meaning it had to be taken off the roads for an hour while it was cleaned.

West Midlands Ambulance Service revealed what had happened on their Facebook page and also commented on how the perpetrators would feel if one of their family members had missed out on timely treatment due to the ambulance being out of action.

The police have also been informed and footage from the ambulance’s onboard cameras is being downloaded.

A post on the West Midlands Ambulance Service read: “Very well done to those who thought it was funny to throw an egg at one of our ambulances as it sat outside a patient’s house in Coventry last night.

“You successfully managed to take the vehicle out of action for an hour whilst it returned to the hub to be properly cleaned, subsequently meaning that for an hour, there was one less vehicle to respond to 999 emergencies.

“We wonder how you would have felt this morning had that resulted a member of your family not receiving the emergency help they needed in a quick and timely fashion? Ggggrrrrr!”

West Midlands Police have been contacted for comment.

They're mostly 'home grown' in my experience.
