Double yellow lines have mysteriously appeared down a narrow alley in Coventry

Double yellow lines have mysteriously appeared down a narrow alley way in Coventry causing some confusion from passers by.

The paved alley way comes off Walsgrave Road in Stoke and runs between the Ball Hill Indoor Market and convenience store Stardust.

Lyn Dowling, of Woodway Park, contacted the Telegraph to ask “is this the narrowest road with double yellow lines?”

The baffled resident explained: “If you managed to get your vehicle in there, it’s only just over 6 feet wide, you wouldn’t be able to park as you couldn’t open the doors to get out!”

The family that run Stardust, and use the alley way to access their bins, believe another local business owner has painted the lines.

Coventry City Council have confirmed it was not them and the land in question is not council-owned.

A spokesperson for the council said: “The alleyway in question is not an adopted highway and the Council has not been involved in the issue. It is a private matter for the road owner.

“When we do put double yellow lines on an adopted road there is a legal process we have to follow, including advertising the changes, so road users can have their say.”

They look rather professional don't they?
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
