Thug caged over violent attack



A brutal Bedworth thug who left a man with a "lasting injury" to his head has been caged for three years.

Ronald Murray of Charles Eaton Road, Bedworth , pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and was sentenced to three years' imprisonment.

It is in connection to an incident on Saturday, May 21, when Murray, who is 57, was in Jacks Entertainment, Kings Street, Bedworth when he assaulted another man, who received a significant injury to his ear as a result.

Detective Sergeant Adam Clifford praised the victim's bravery to help bring the prosecution, adding: "This was a particularly nasty attack resulting in a lasting injury for the victim.

"The venue was busy at the time of this incident and a number of patrons observed what must have been a distressing and intimidating event.

"Today's result shows the people of Bedworth and Warwickshire that police will pursue those who seek to disrupt people's working and social lives and that violence in public spaces will never be acceptable behaviour.

"Murray is well known in Bedworth and I expect his sentence today offers some comfort to many residents.

"I would like to thank the victim and witnesses for their commitment to the case. It has been a lengthy process but with your assistance and the dedication of investigating officer DC Arun Karra, we have been able to secure an excellent result."
