Prolific burglar who stole two cars in Nuneaton is jailed

A burglar who went on a crime spree and stole two cars in a matter of days is now behind bars.

Kieran David Ballard stole a BMW and then an Audi from addresses in Nuneaton in March 11 and 13 respectively - and was then spotted by police racing around in the Audi a day later.

He was arrested on March 15 thanks to information provided by the public following a media and social media appeal.

And when he appeared at Warwick Crown Court, Ballard, 28, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to a number of offences and was jailed for four years and seven months.

He admitted carrying out a burglary at a house on Wadebridge Drive on March 11 during which he stole the BMW.

While fleeing the scene, the car collided with a 52-year-old man who tried to intervene, causing injuries to his hands.

Two days later on March 13, Ballard took an Audi from Croft Road without the consent of the owner and was spotted by police officers the following day driving it dangerously.

In connection with the incident on March 11, Ballard pleaded guilty to burglary and aggravated vehicle taking where an accident occurred causing injury.

While he admitted charges of taking a motor vehicle without consent and dangerous driving in connection with the incidents on March 13 and 14.

Ballard was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £170 and disqualified from driving for nearly five years.

He pleaded not guilty to commercial burglary and the offence was left to lie on file, while he was also found not guilty of causing grievous bodily harm following an incident in Nuneaton on March 12.
