Plans... the application for what is expected to be Pizza Hut takeaway in Nuneaton
A MAJOR pizza firm looks set to want a slice of the action in Nuneaton again.
The Nuneaton News can reveal that Pizza Hut, which left the town four years ago, could be making its comeback – in Queens Road.
An application has been submitted to Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council for permission for 'erection of illuminated signage' at 'Unit 2 Pizza Hut, Sainsburys site, 299 Queens Road, Nuneaton."
The site is next to the Sainsbury's store on what was the old Cock and Bear pub site.
A spokesperson for Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council confirmed that the authority has received a planning application for signage for Pizza Hut, but it has received no official confirmation from Pizza Hut itself.
However, there is pre-existing planning permission for a takeaway granted for the building, meaning that there would not necessarily have to be an application for it to be used by Pizza Hut.
The national name did have a restaurant in Abbey Street for many years but, back in March 2013, the firm revealed that it would be closing.
It really does look like a hut!
