A schoolboy suffered a broken leg after being hit by a car in Coventry.

The air ambulance was among crews sent to the scene in Keresley Green Road at around 8.30am on Monday after the 14-year-old boy was hurt.

The incident happened near to the Nisa store at the junction with The Scotchill.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said that as well as the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, they also dispatched an ambulance and a paramedic officer to the collision.

They said that the boy had suffered a fractured left leg and a dislocated ankle, and had been taken via ambulance to University Hospital in Walsgrave.
