A dad was assaulted by a gang of youths in a park when he tried to get his son’s stolen bike back.

Police are appealing for information following the assault of the dad and his teenage son after the group of youths stole two bikes.

Two young boys were approached by the group in Fords Field Park, Bury Road, Leamington on Tuesday, August 29, at around 6pm.

The group stole both of the boys’ bikes - a red Apollo and a grey Carrera mountain bike.

One of the boys, a 14-year-old, was reportedly grabbed at the neck by a young boy described as black, wearing dark clothing and with distinctive short black hair that was shaved at ear level, with dreadlocks on top and a short ponytail.

Shortly after the incident, the victim’s father went to the park to try and get the bikes back. He was also assaulted by a number of youths.

The boy and his father suffered minor injuries as a result of the incident and police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

Officers believe there were a number of witnesses in the area at the time and urge anyone with information to call them on 101, quoting incident number 339 of 29 August.

Alternatively anyone with information can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
