It is not certain when the Coventry city centre shop will be back open
KFC in Coventry city centre is closed until further notice following a fire in a deep fat fryer.
The shop in Cross Cheaping was evacuated at lunchtime today and a sign was put on the door telling customers it was closed.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said: "A fire engine was sent out to a small fire in an industrial deep fat fryer.
"The shop was evacuated and three fire extinguishers were used prior to our arrival.
"The fire is now out and our officers left the scene at 2.33pm."
An employee of KFC told the Coventry Telegraph that it was not certain when they would be able to reopen.
