Parents could encounter problems when the school run starts up again due to major roadworks in Tile Hill.

A full closure will be in place on Standard Avenue off the A45 around the infamous Malfunction Junction for up to nine days.

Coventry City Council will be closing the road on September 4 just in time for the school run to start back up again.

The road will be closed to carry out work on connecting and installing a new gully as part of the council’s annual anti-flooding prevention scheme.

The diversion around Standard Avenue will be down Torrington Avenue, Eastcotes and back up Tile Hill Lane.

The closure will be from the slip road of the A45.

A spokesman for Coventry City Council said: “The closure at this location is part of our annual anti-flooding prevention scheme. We work in locations where flooding occurred during the rainy days.

“The specific closure at Standard Avenue is part of this scheme and we are installing more gullies in the carriageway to prevent flooding in the future.”

The closure is expected to cause a lot of problems for motorists.

There has also recently been work on the Tile Hill gyratory, which is scheduled to finish at the end of September.

The busy junction is undergoing traffic signal improvements as part of a £700,000 road improvement programme in the city.

There are warnings in place that delays are likely on A45 and routes surrounding Standard Avenue while the work is carried out.

Tile Hill gyratory, AKA Tile Hill tangle, or simply that bl**dy mess at the old Triumph works.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
