Peter Radford breached a sexual harm prevention order by obtaining the job
A convicted paedophile who failed to report to police in Coventry has been jailed after being found working at a funfair.
Peter Radford used a false name to earn a job at Barry Island Pleasure Park in Wales before being caught seven weeks later.
Radford was convicted in 2013 of sexually abusing a 13-year-old and jailed for four-and-a-half years, as well as being handed a lifetime sexual harm prevention order.
And it was that order that the 34-year-old breached by working at the popular funfair on the south coast of Wales.
He pleaded guilty to the breach and failing to report to police in Coventry, and has been jailed for ten months, Wales Online reports.
Radford, of no fixed address, and another convicted sex offender - 25-year-old Benjamin Thomas - started working at the Pleasure Park at the start of June following repeated attempts to gain employment.
They were arrested on suspicion of sexual assault following a report of a missing person.
No sexual assault charges were brought against the pair, but both appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court the day after where they entered their guilty pleas
Thomas, from elsewhere in the West Midlands, was also jailed for 10 months.
The court was told they were jailed because the seriousness of the breach, the use of aliases and its “deliberate” nature.
Barry Island Pleasure Park owner Henry Danter said the pair had come to the park repeatedly looking for a job and had lied about their names and addresses.
He said: “They came round here looking for part time work and gave fake identities.
“We are greatly bothered by what happened. We have changed our system which before took so long to find out if a person had good character, now it happens instantly.
“They didn’t do anything on the site and only worked here two or three days over the seven weeks. They asked for work on a part time basis.”
