Were you in the area?... police want to hear from anyone who saw the duo or anything suspicious

A HOUSEHOLDER was hit with a hammer when burglars forced their way into her home in Nuneaton.

Police say that the victim, who has not been identified but is a woman aged in her 20s, suffered slight injuries and bruising to her arm following the frightening attack at her home in Paddiford Place.

It is understood that she was in the garden when she spotted an unknown man by the gate.

As she went to go inside she saw another man, who was carrying what is believed to have been a hammer.

The man took a money pot and a metal Jack Daniels tin, which contained an undisclosed amount of cash, before hitting the woman on her arm.

The two suspects then fled, heading in the direction of Church Road.

Investigating officers are now trying to trace the duo, one of whom has been described as being white, around 5ft 4ins tall, of a slight build, and aged in his early 20s. He was wearing a sports jacket with the hood over his head, possibly dark blue in colour, and dark coloured jogging bottoms.

His accomplice was also white, around 5ft 4ins tall, of slight build, and in his late teens to early 20s and had mousy brown hair. He was wearing dark coloured jogging bottoms, a light blue waterproof jacket, over a dark coloured hooded jacket and a red scarf around his lower face.

Anyone who saw the pair in the area at around 3.30pm on Thursday, June 22 should contact police on 101, quoting incident 319 of June 22.

Details can also be passed on to officers via the Crimestoppers hotline, which is free to call from a landline and confidential, on 0800 555 111.
