Nasty... police need help to trace the armed arsonists who struck in Nuneaton last night (Tuesday, June 20)BALACLAVA-clad arsonists, armed with baseball bats and a petrol can, tried to force their way into a home in Nuneaton.
They struck at an address in Bermuda Road at just after 8.30 pm last night (Tuesday, June 20).
It is understood that they tried to force their way into the house but, when they failed, they torched a camper van outside.
Shocked neighbours raised the alarm with the emergency services and two fire engines and six police cars swooped on the residential area.
Officers are now investigating the incident and want to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area or around the property to come forward.
Also, while they carried out welfare checks at the property, they found a number of cannabis plants growing inside. A 23-year-old man, who has not been identified, was arrested under suspicion of production of cannabis. He is currently in custody.
