Fallen... the huge willow tree has fallen in Mill Walk, near to the popular footbridge
HIGH winds have blown a huge tree down near to a popular footbridge in Nuneaton town centre.
The large Willow tree in Mill Walk has fallen victim to the blustery conditions and has fallen across the River Anker, near to the footbridge.
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has been alerted to the problem and a spokesperson told the News that they are making the area safe.
"The fallen tree is not the responsibility of the council, but we are making it safe so the public can still use the walkway, " the Town Hall spokesman said.
"We will inform the Environmental Agency and they will liaise with the tree owner to remove it. As the tree branches are now in the highway – Warwickshire County Council will also been involved."
