A 31-year-old man from Coventry has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a young dad in Atherstone.

He was arrested by Warwickshire Police on Tuesday afternoon and is the third man to be detained in connection with the death of 21-year-old Jake Palfreyman.

Jake was found with serious injuries to his head and torso in Barsby Close, Atherstone, on Sunday night.

He was taken to hospital where he died at around 10am on Monday.

Warwickshire Police believe Jake was involved in several incidents on Sunday.

They say a window was smashed at a property in Barsby Close, and believe that there was then an altercation between him and a 20-year-old man outside the White Horse pub in Long Street.

The final incident, which happened back in Barsby Close, led to his death.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on Tuesday morning.

Two other men have also been arrested in connection with the incident.

A 50-year-old man from Atherstone initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder was further arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in police custody this morning.

Officers had been granted permission to hold him until tonight.

A 20-year-old man from Atherstone arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the incident has been released on bail.

If anyone witnessed any of these incidents or has information that may help police with their investigation they should call 101 and quote incident 451s of 28 May 2017.
