Attacks happened in early hours of Monday morning, residents say

Police are investigating after vandals slashed tyres on a large number of cars in Coventry.

The cars were parked in Sewall Highway and Tackford Road, in Courthouse Green, when they were attacked in the early hours of Monday morning.

The damage spree was carried out at around 3am and saw cars parked both on the street and on driveways targeted.

One resident who contacted the Telegraph said: “At around 3am on Monday an entire line of cars on Sewall Highway and Tackford Road had their tyres slashed.

“My girlfriend was one victim and she was off work on Monday as she had to book a ‘fit-at-home’ service.

“They decided to slash two tyres on most vehicles, both on the same side - meaning people like my girlfriend will need to replace all four.

“The poor chap next door to me had all four tyres slashed and his car was fully on his drive.”

West Midlands Police say they were alerted to a report of criminal damage to a car in Sewall Highway at just after 8am on Monday.

The tyres on a blue Ford Fiesta were slashed between 10.30pm on Sunday and 6am on Monday, while parked outside a property.

A spokesman for the force said: “It is believed that other cars in the area were also damaged in the area on the same night."

Anyone with information is asked to call officers on 101, quoting reference number 20CV/105771Y/17.
