A total of four fire engines were needed to tackle the fire at Camp Hill Early Years Centre earlier this evening (Monday, May 22)
A BLAZE has ripped through an early years centre in Nuneaton.
Crews from the town's fire station responded to 999 calls made at just after 5.30pm this evening (Monday, May 22) to reports of a fire at Camp Hill Early Years Centre.
When they arrived, firefighters found the building was 'well alight.'
They called for back-up and two more engines were sent to the scene; one from Bedworth and another from Atherstone.
Fire crews used two hose reels, six breathing apparatus and small gear to extinguish the fire.
A specialist fire investigation officer was also called out to the scene.
Firefighters remained at the site for another hour before returning to their stations.
The cause of the fire is not yet known but, because the early years centre is on the Camp Hill Primary School site, a text has been sent to all pupils' parents and carers warning them that the school may not be able to open tomorrow (Tuesday, May 23).
On the text message it explains that the school currently has no power and it is unclear if the power will be back on in time for school tomorrow.
