Patrolling police officers stopped Callum James McCloskey, of West Ridge, Coventry while he was driving a white Peugeot in Charles Eaton Road, Bedworth.

The 26-year-old fled the vehicle and was later found by officers hiding in a garden bush.

He appeared before Leamington Magistrates' Court on Monday (15 May) where he pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle when alcohol level above limit, driving while disqualified, using a motor vehicle on a road/public place without third party insurance and possession of a controlled substance on Sunday (May 14)

He was sentenced to 36 weeks imprisonment, disqualified from driving for five years and ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

PC Ben Hood, of Warwickshire Police's Operational Patrol Unit, said: "I am very happy that the offender has been identified and justice has been done.

"We do not tolerate any form of driving offences but the simple fact is driving when you have been drinking is not just illegal, it puts you and other road users at risk."
